Terms of Service

Kamui is a platform that helps users learn Japanese through videogames. This service is provided through a web application and a desktop application (for Windows only). The desktop application is based on the web application, being nearly the same, although it has some additional features.

The main feature of the application consists of scanning text from videogames being run on the user’s device. This is done via a button or keyboard shortcut within the application, triggering a “scan”.

The user can use the web application without an account, but will be limited to only 20 scans, then will be prompted to sign up. An account is mandatory for the desktop application, which should first be created from the website.

A new account without a Kamui license will be limited to 500 scans. If they expire, the user will be prompted to purchase a license.

There are 3 types of license:

• Monthly subscription: pay a monthly fee for unlimited access to the application.
• Yearly subscription: pay a yearly fee for unlimited access to the application.
• Lifetime subscription: pay a one-time fee for unlimited access to the application.

Monthly and yearly subscriptions can be canceled at any time by navigating to the “User” page and clicking the “Manage subscription” link. Upon canceling, the user will retain unlimited access to the application until the subscription period expires. Example: if they purchased a monthly subscription on January 1st, and canceled it on January 15th, they will retain access until January 31st.

To purchase a lifetime subscription, the user must contact Kamui through any available means, such as email or Discord.
